Description

Bailiff's House is a house built between 1607 and 1610, with mid-19th century and some late 20th century alterations. It features a timber frame with plastered infill on a stuccoed brick ground floor and has a tiled roof with stacks at the rear. The building has two storeys and an attic, which is illuminated by three gabled dormers. The first floor and attic are jettied, supported by a moulded bressummer on consoles.

On the first floor, there are three windows: square oriels with four lights, ovolo mullions, transoms, and side lights, with sills supported on two consoles. The timber-framed dormers contain 3-light 19th century casements. The ground floor has three windows, including two 4-light casements and a 3-light casement to the right. There are two entrances; the left entrance, approached by four concrete steps, features an overlight and a 20th century ledged and boarded door. The right entrance has a similar door with a segmental head that bears the inscription "T 1610 B".

The framing includes close-studding on the first floor, while the attic has one square panel high with four decorative quadrant braces in each panel, similar to those in the gable of each dormer. Although the ground floor has been largely rebuilt, it retains three consoles that support the jetty.
