Description

Redthorne Court is a house, later converted into apartments, built between 1775 and 1776 by William Prattinton for his own residence. It has undergone alterations in the late 20th century. The building is constructed of brick with a hipped roof covered in stone slates and has stacks on the side walls. It is three storeys high and features five windows on the front facade, with glazing bar sashes beneath wedge lintels that have keystones. The second floor has six-pane sashes similarly detailed. A central entrance on the ground floor is framed by engaged Doric columns supporting an open pediment; above is a fanlight with Gothic glazing, and the door is of eight flush panels. The rear of the building has two bow windows that extend through all three storeys, while the basement features three large segmental arches that support a terrace at the rear.

Inside, an open-well staircase with stick balusters remains, and plaster cornices are present in most of the ground floor rooms. The house was formerly the home of Peter Prattinton, son of William Prattinton, and a Worcestershire antiquary.
