Description

Nos 26 and 28 Potter Street are a pair of houses dating from the late 18th century, with alterations made in the late 19th century. The buildings are constructed of red brick with a brick plinth on the facade, while the rest is made of stone rubble, featuring gauged brick dressings. They have a plain tile roof with a brick gable stack on the east side and a stepped and dentilled eaves band. Each house is three storeys high and consists of a single bay.

No 26, located to the east, has steps leading up to a plain doorcase that features an original raised and fielded six-panel door beneath a rusticated wedge lintel with a raised keystone. To the east of the door is a segment-headed, three-light horizontal sliding glazing bar sash window, and above it is a similar window with a flat head.

No 28, situated to the west, has a late 19th-century shop front that includes a large small-paned window to the west and a glazed door with a divided overlight to the east, both beneath a continuous moulded cornice. To the east of this shop front is a small inserted 20th-century window. Above the shop front, to the west, is a segment-headed, three-light horizontal sliding plain sash window, and in the center of the building is a blind segment-headed recess. Above this, to the west, is a flat-headed, three-light horizontal sliding glazing bar sash window.
