Description

Nos 43 and 45 Castle Street are a pair of cottages, now functioning as shops, dating from the mid 18th century with 20th-century alterations. They are constructed from coursed squared stone with stone dressings and feature a plain tile roof that has a large central ridge stack and a chamfered eaves band. Each cottage consists of a single bay and stands two storeys tall.

No 43 has a plain doorcase with a corniced keystone and a 20th-century glazed door on the south side, along with a three-light horizontal sliding plain sash window on the north side, which also has a corniced keystone. Above this window is a similar window without a keystone.

No 45 mirrors No 43 in design, but the positions of the door and windows are reversed.

Inside both cottages, the front rooms feature large chamfered beams and bracketed stone fireplaces.
