Description
The barn at Castle Farm dates from the 16th and 18th centuries, with later additions and alterations. It features square panel timber framing with corner braces on the upper panels, set on a stone plinth and with brick nogging, along with later red brick and a pantile roof. The barn is single storey and consists of three bays. The west elevation displays two panels of timber framing with diamond-patterned breathers in the nogging, flanking a full-height central opening with plank doors. On either side, there are later brick bays with timber framing painted on. The east facade is from the 19th century and has a central full-height opening. Inside, the barn retains its original king post roof trusses with staggered single purlins and wind braces below the supporting posts. This building is included for its group value only.
