Description

The Roebuck is a public house dating from the early 19th century. It is constructed of painted red brick with painted stone dressings and a rendered plinth. The roof is covered with plain tiles and features brick gable stacks and a dentilled eaves band. The building stands three storeys tall with three bays, plus a single storey bay to the east.

There are steps leading up to a central doorcase that has a segment-headed design, featuring a panelled door set in a raised brick surround, along with a simple hood and bootscrapers on either side. Flanking the door are glazing bar sash windows. The ground floor has a 20th-century plastic canopy that extends across the full width of the building. Above the ground floor, there are three similar sash windows, and on the top floor, smaller sash windows flank a blocked central window. All windows are topped with rusticated wedge lintels that have raised keystones. The single storey bay to the east includes a full height segmental arch with double plank doors. This building is included for its group value only.
