Description
No 10 Market Place is a building that originally consisted of two cottages, now combined into one. It dates from the 18th century and has undergone alterations in the early and late 19th century. The exterior features pebbledashed brick and stone rubble with a slate roof, complemented by brick gable stacks and a large central brick ridge stack, which has stepped eaves bands. The building is two storeys high and consists of four bays.
On the eastern side, there is a 19th-century shop front with a moulded cornice, which includes a segment-headed doorcase with a glazed door next to it. To the west of the shop front, there are two 3-light segment-headed windows with 20th-century casements, along with a similar 2-light window in a former doorcase at the far west. Above these, the upper floor features two 2-light horizontal sliding glazing bar sashes to the west and two small-paned 20th-century top-hung casements to the east.
Inside, the building has low ceilings with chamfered beams and an inglenook fireplace. This property is included in the listing for its group value.
