Description

Nos. 8 and 9, Welch Gate are a late 16th-century house, later converted into flats, with alterations from the mid-19th century and late 20th century. The building is timber-framed with rendered infill, set on a painted brick base and covered by a machine tile roof. It is two storeys high, with an attic lit by two gabled dormers, and has two windows. The windows are 3-light casements; those on the ground floor have soldier courses above their heads. A central entrance opens into a passageway, featuring a concrete lintel and a 20th-century ledged and boarded door. The timber framing is visible on the first floor and is close-studded with a middle rail.
