Description
Nos. 5 and 7 Malt Mill Lane is a house dating from the mid-16th century, which underwent alterations and restoration between 1972 and 1975. It features a timber frame with close studding and plaster infill, set on a stone base, and has a tile roof with no chimneys. The building has a three-unit plan, is two storeys high, and consists of three bays.
The entrance includes a late 20th-century door and glazed panel, which is recessed behind an original doorway that has a chamfered four-centred arch. The late 20th-century windows are mostly casements, although there is a canted bay on the right that has sash windows. The ground floor windows are fitted with external shutters. The first floor juts out and is supported by brackets on moulded posts, with part of one original moulded post still visible on the left. The left gable end displays square framing. At the rear, there is close studding with two diagonal braces on the ground floor, but it does not have a jettied design. There are paired recessed late 20th-century doors. The interior has not been inspected.
