Description
No. 9 Church Street is a building that was originally a post office and is now used as offices. It dates from the early 19th century and features scored stucco with a moulded stucco string course, cornice, and parapet. The ground floor displays banded rustication. The roof is not visible, but there is a brick stack. The building has a double depth plan and is four stories high with a two-window range. The central entrance has a six-panelled door set within a moulded stucco architrave that features a Greek key pattern. There is a small door to the right that leads to a passage. The tripartite sash windows are adorned with rusticated voussoirs, while the upper floors have 16-pane sashes with cornices supported by consoles. The top floor features centre hung sashes in plain openings. At the rear, there are brick wings. The interior of the ground floor was altered in the late 20th century.
