Description
Nos. 14 and 16 Burnside is a house that has been divided into two units. It dates from the 17th century and has late 19th-century alterations. The building features a timber frame that is rendered on the front and partially replaced with brickwork, topped with a concrete tiled roof. It has an L-shaped plan and is a single storey with an attic, sitting on a stone plinth. The front has three bays, with a gabled cross wing on the right and a matching gable on the left, creating an attempt at symmetry. There is a lattice single-light window at the apex of the right gable, and both gables contain three-light casements. Each ground-floor bay has two-light casements, and there are boarded doors to the right of the centre and in the left bays. The rear and part of the side elevation display the exposed timber frame with three tiers of square panels. A round-arch doorway is located on the side of the cross wing. Inside, there is a miniature overlight above the door in the central room, featuring balustraded bars without glazing.
