Barn About 20 Yards West of Skirgen's Farmhouse

This barn, located about 20 yards west of Skirgen's Farmhouse, dates back to the 17th century and has been altered in the mid-19th century. It features a timber frame with brick infill set on a brick plinth, with some sections of brick replacement walling and part of the structure weatherboarded. The roof is plain tiled. The barn consists of four framed bays arranged east to west, with a wagon bay second from the east gable that has opposed cart entries with double doors.

The framing includes three rows of panels extending from the sill to the wall plate, with long straight braces in the lower corners. The end trusses are not visible from the outside. On the north front elevation, there are doorways to the left and right of the cart entrance; the left door features a cambered head and an open panel above it.

Inside, the east end has a king-post truss, while the west end has a collar and tie-beam truss with raking struts. There is also an intermediate truncated collar and tie-beam truss with struts, along with two tiers of renewed purlins and a boarded ridge. The barn is floored except for the wagon bay. A single-storey extension from the 19th century is attached to the east gable end but is not included in the listing.
