Description

Park Farmhouse is a farmhouse that likely dates from the early 17th century, with alterations made in the mid-18th century and restoration in the mid-20th century. The building features a combination of timber framing with brick infill and sections made of brick, including some handmade bricks, all topped with plain tiled roofs. It has a square plan consisting of two parallel two-bay ranges that are roughly aligned east to west, and it includes large external chimneys with offsets on each side elevation. The farmhouse stands two storeys high with attics.

The timber framing is visible at the first-floor level on the west elevation and partially on the side elevations, showcasing long rectangular panels with some short straight braces in the upper corners. The roof structure includes collar and tie-beam trusses supported by two long struts to the collar and short raking side struts. The windows are all 20th-century casements with cambered heads. On the east front elevation, there are three windows on both the ground and first floors, along with attic lights. The central entrance features a 20th-century lean-to timber-framed porch with a brick base, which houses an 18th-century door with six raised and fielded panels and a transom light.

Inside, the farmhouse has stop-chamfered main beams. There are also 19th-century single-storey additions that encase the external chimney on the north side elevation. Overall, Park Farmhouse is a substantial building that retains much of its former character.
