Description
This barn, located about 25 yards south of Town Farmhouse, dates from the 17th century and was altered in the late 19th century. It is timber-framed with some brick infill on a brick base and is partly weatherboarded, topped with a corrugated iron roof. The barn has three framed bays oriented north to south, featuring a central wagon bay with opposing cart entries and double doors. The framing includes three rows of square panels extending from the sill to the wall-plate, with long straight braces in the lower corners. The structure has collar and tie-beam end trusses supported by three struts below the collar and V-struts above. There are intermediate tie-beam trusses with raking struts and a single tier of trenched purlins. Additionally, there is a 19th-century brick wing at the south end and a lean-to pigsty from the 19th century at the north end.
