Description

Deepcroft Cottage is a house dating from the 17th century, with alterations and additions made in the mid-19th century and mid-20th century. It features a timber-framed structure with painted brick infill and a raised Welsh slate roof. The building consists of two framed bays aligned east to west and has a large external brick chimney with offsets on the east side, along with a 20th-century external brick stack on the west side. The cottage is two storeys high with an attic.

The framing includes four panels from the sill to the original wall-plate, with an additional row added to the front and rear. There are short straight braces in the upper corners and collar and tie-beam trusses with struts retained at the gable ends. The south front elevation has two three-light casement windows on the ground floor with plank weatherings and two two-light casement windows on the first floor, along with attic lights in the gable ends.

The main entrance is located in a 20th-century gabled single-storey addition at the west gable end, and there is also a lean-to addition that encloses the external chimney at the east gable end. The interior has not been inspected.
