Description

Church Farmhouse is a 17th-century farmhouse that was altered in the mid-19th century. It is part timber-framed on a rubble base, with rendered and brick infill, and features a plain tiled roof with two brick ridge stacks. The building is likely four bays long, with two of these bays framed, and is aligned roughly north to south. It has two storeys and an attic with a dormer.

The timber framing is exposed at the gable ends and the west side, showcasing three rows of square panels at the first floor level. The north gable end has long straight braces across the lower corners, and the truss above features a collar and tie-beam with two collars, five struts to the lower collar, four to the upper collar, and a V-strut in the apex. The south end truss has a single collar and four struts.

On the east front elevation, there is a 6-pane sash window and a 12-pane sash window on the ground floor, both with cambered heads. The first floor has three 2-light casements with cambered heads, a 3-light 20th-century casement, and a square window opening. The main entrance features a 19th-century timber porch with a hipped lead roof and trellis infill, and the doorway has a cambered head with a 6-panelled door that includes four raised and fielded panels and two glazed panels. Additionally, there is a ledged and battened door at the southern end and a gabled dormer with a 2-light casement at the rear.
