Description
Old Hall is a house dated 1704, with possible origins from the 17th century. It has been altered in the mid-19th century and late 20th century. The building features a brick facade with sandstone rubble on the northeast side, topped with plain tiled roofs and a large brick chimney at the center of the main ridge. It has an H-plan layout, with a central single-bay range that originally formed a lobby entrance and intersecting two-bay cross-wings. The house is two storeys high with an attic.
On the northeast front elevation, the gable ends have moulded bargeboards with pendant finials. The central bay includes a first-floor 2-light casement window and a 19th-century gabled porch featuring a Tudor archway, which contains a half-glazed door. Above the porch is a reset stone inscribed "P M 1704". The flanking gable ends each have a 2-light casement window on all three storeys, with the right gable end also featuring an additional single-light window on the ground floor. There is a single-storey wing attached to the southeast side.
Inside, a ground floor passageway has been created through the base of the central chimney. An early 18th-century oak open well staircase remains at the rear of the central chimney, showcasing turned balusters and a moulded handrail.
