Description

Fillongley Mount is a house with origins dating back to the 16th century, with significant alterations in the late 17th century and mainly in the mid-19th century. It is constructed of brick and rendered, featuring hipped and gabled plain-tiled roofs with ridge stacks made of red brick. The eaves and gable ends are adorned with pierced bargeboarding. The original 16th-century plan consists of three units with a lobby entry, and the house stands two storeys tall.

The northwest front displays 19th-century windows, including small-pane hung sashes on the first floor and two canted bays at the ground floor with full-length hung sashes. The northeast gable end features iron casements with 19th-century lozenge lights. A mid-19th-century wing has been added to the southeast front, which is also two storeys high and has a symmetrical facade. On the first floor, there are two larger casements with lozenge-shaped lights flanking smaller casements.

The central porch has a gabled plain-tiled roof with an apex finial and pendant, along with similar pierced bargeboarding. The open-sided timber walls rest on a brick plinth and are decorated with turned balusters and quatrefoils in pointed arches. The gable ends of the porch display the initials W.D.

Inside, the interior is mainly from the mid-19th century, except for the 16th-century chamfer and moulding on the quartered ceiling beams in the central room. The mid-19th-century staircase features turned balusters.
