Description

Yeat Farmhouse is a house dated 1700, as indicated by a stone plaque. It is constructed of coursed rubble stone with thin brick quoins, bonded window surrounds, and horizontal bands of stone above a plinth and at the first floor level. The roof is hipped and tiled, with symmetrical chimneys featuring grouped shafts of thin brick.

The house has a double pile plan and two storeys with an attic, arranged with three bays. The outer bays contain three-light leaded casement windows with transoms. A similar two-light window is located centrally on the first floor. The upper windows retain old leading, while the lower windows have been replaced in the 20th century. Dormers are hipped and contain two-light leaded casement windows. The central entrance has been altered with a 20th-century door and a lean-to lead hood, flanked by single-light windows. A small, single-story bay was added to the right side in the 20th century.

19th-century single-story extensions are present at the rear. Internally, the house features stop-chamfered spine beams and two 18th-century three-panel bolection doors leading to the first floor. The central hall contains an early 18th-century staircase with elegant turned balusters, a moulded handrail, and turned ball finials and pendants. A door on the far side of the hall is set within a good wooden doorcase featuring a shouldered architrave, with carved scroll brackets forming the shoulders.
