Description

Nugent Cottage is a house dating from the 19th century, built on the site of an earlier structure. It incorporates a 15th- to early 16th-century cruck truss and some 17th-century timbering, and was restored and extended in the 1970s. The house is constructed of red brick, with the left bay featuring red and yellow brick and a timber-framed gable with thin brick infill. It has an old tile roof and rebuilt brick chimneys. The two bays to the right are slightly wider and taller than the left bay. The ground floor has 20th-century casements, with three-light windows flanking two-light windows. The attic has dormers with 20th-century metal casements. The outer bays have 20th-century barred and glazed doors. Rear extensions were added in the 20th century. Inside, the left end of the centre bay reveals a cruck truss with a timber-framed partition.
