Description

Wickton Court is a house dating from the 17th century, which has been altered and extended in the late 18th century and mid-19th century, with further changes in the late 20th century. The building features roughcast timber-frame construction on a rubble base, with some sections of rubble walling and a partly hipped stone-tiled roof laid in diminishing courses, topped with brick ridge stacks. It has an L-plan layout, consisting of a two-bay wing to the south-west and a three-bay wing to the north-west, both of which were originally extended by one bay; the south-west wing retains its original porch wing.

The house is two storeys high. The south-east front elevation has four bays, with three 12-pane sash windows on each floor of varying sizes. The porch wing projects from the third bay and features two rows of panels at ground floor level and three rows at first floor level, along with a collar and tie-beam truss that has three struts and a swept V-strut above the collar. The first floor jetties out on a moulded bressummer with run-out chamfer stops and pendants at the ends. There is a three-light 20th-century casement window on the first floor and a two-light 20th-century ovolo wood-mullioned window on the right side. The outer entrance has a moulded surround, and inside is the original battened door with moulded fillets and ornamental strap hinges. Additionally, there is a 19th-century rear wing and 19th-century lean-to additions at the rear angle and the north-west end. Inside, the ground floor includes a room lined with original panelling.
