Description
Damson Tree Cottage is a former granary that dates back to around 1600 and has been restored in the late 20th century. It is a timber-framed building with brick infill, replacement walling, and a plinth, topped with a plain tiled roof. The cottage has two framed bays that are aligned north to south and stands two storeys high.
The framing features three panels from the sill to the wallplate, with a collar and tie-beam truss supported by four struts and a V-strut in the apex of the north gable end. The windows are all 20th-century single-light casements. On the east entrance elevation, there are two windows on both floors, along with three additional first-floor windows. The cottage has two ledged and battened doors, one for each bay, and there is an attic light and a former loft door in the south gable end.
The interior has not been inspected. There is also a single-bay, single-storey brick addition at the north gable end, which connects Damson Tree Cottage to the barn and stable. This addition features a set of part-glazed double doors with a cambered head on its east elevation.
