Description
Cherry Cottage is a house dating from the 15th century, with alterations made in the mid-19th century and mid-20th century. It features a timber frame with painted brick and rendered infill, along with brick refacing and additions. The building is partly roughcast and has weatherboarding at the east gable end, topped with a corrugated iron roof.
The structure consists of two framed bays aligned east to west, with the west bay being slightly extended in brick during the 19th century and featuring an external chimney with offsets. It is a single-storey building with an attic. The framing is crock-framed, with two and three panels from the sill to the wall-plate, and large swept braces in some of the lower corners. A full crock truss is present at the east gable end.
On the south front elevation, there are two ground floor 2-light casement windows. To the left of the center, there is a 20th-century lean-to part-glazed porch that leads to a ledged and battened door, likely in the original entrance position. Attic lights are located in the gable ends, and there is a lean-to at the rear. The interior has not been inspected.
