Description
Boraston House is a house built in the late 18th century, with restorations and extensions made in the 20th century. It is constructed of brick and features a dentil course at the eaves. The roof is plain-tiled and has both hipped and gabled sections. There are projecting brick eaves stacks on each side, along with an integral brick stack at the rear gable. The house has a square plan.
The south front has three storeys and a three-window range, featuring 6/6 sash windows on the first and second floors, and 3/3 sash windows on the top floor, all with gauged brick lintels. The central doorcase includes a fanlight with radial and festoon glazing bars, plain pilasters, and a six-panelled door. There is a projecting flat-roofed portico supported by Tuscan columns and featuring a Doric entablature.
On the right side, there is a projecting brick stack to the left, with a two-window range of 20th-century casements to the right. The first floor has two windows with segmental arches, a single casement above, and two casements at ground level, all with flat brick lintels, plus an additional 20th-century glazed door.
The left side has a projecting brick stack to the right, with a single casement on each floor, the lower one having a segmental-arch lintel. The ground floor features a three-light casement with top-lights, while the other windows are from the 20th century.
At the rear, there are twin gables flanking a parapeted valley. The left gable has 20th-century casements on the first and second floors with segmental arches, and a 20th-century extension covering the ground level. In the center, there are 20th-century casements with segmental arches on the first and second storeys, along with a ground-level 20th-century door and window featuring flat brick arches. The interior has not been inspected.
