Description
Rose Cottage is a farmhouse that has been converted into a house. It dates from the early 17th century and features a 19th-century extension along with 20th-century alterations. The building has a painted timber frame with painted rendered and painted brick infill panels, as well as areas of painted brick. It has plain-tile roofs that are both hipped and gabled, with a central brick ridge stack. The structure has an L-shaped plan consisting of a timber-framed range and a later cross wing.
On the exterior, it is a single storey with an attic. The north front showcases square-panelled timber framing and includes three restored multi-pane casement windows. There is a central 20th-century flat-roofed dormer above a boarded door, which is sheltered by a tiled lean-to canopy that has tiled cheeks. The east side features square-panelled timber framing on the right, with a multi-pane casement window to the left in the brick extension wing. This side also has a central 20th-century flat-roofed dormer and a lean-to tiled canopy that covers both a 20th-century door and an adjacent casement window. The west gable end is finished with painted render on the first floor, brick below, and a weatherboarded gable truss. The arms of the L-shaped plan are filled with gabled timber framing that has fully-glazed infill panels. The interior has not been inspected.
