Description

Myttons Cottage is a house dating back to the 17th century, with 20th-century extensions and substantial restoration work. It is a timber-frame building, with painted brick and rendered infill panels set on a brick plinth, and further painted rendered extensions. The roof is covered in plain tiles, and there is a brick end stack to the left. The house originally had a two-window front, but now has gabled 20th-century extensions at each end. It is a single-storey building with an attic. The front elevation features square timber framing, with one panel high at first floor level, built on brick and rendered at ground floor. There are 20th-century multi-pane casement windows and a raking dormer in each bay, flanking a projecting, tiled, gabled porch also from the 20th century. Single-storey 20th-century extensions are on each side, largely covering the gable-end trusses constructed with twin raking struts, a collar, vertical struts, and a tie beam. The rear of the house has three-panel high square framing, which has been restored, with three 20th-century casement windows on the left and a single 20th-century casement on the right. Inside, there are chamfered bridging beams with ogee chamfer stops.
