Description

This barn, located about 50 yards east of Home Farmhouse, dates from the mid-18th century. It is timber-framed and weatherboarded, standing on a tall brick plinth, with a plain tiled roof. The structure features three framed bays oriented north to south, with a central wagon bay that has opposing cart entries fitted with double doors. The brick section includes ventilation slits. Inside, there are long rectangular panels extending from the sill to the wall-plate, with long straight braces in the lower corners. The roof structure consists of collar and tie-beam trusses, with end trusses featuring three struts to the collar and a V-strut in the apex. The intermediate trusses have two struts to the collar, and there are two tiers of trenched purlins. The barn forms the eastern boundary of the farmyard.
