Description
Acton Meadow Barn is a barn that likely dates from the late 18th century. It is constructed with a timber frame set on a high brick plinth, featuring ventilation courses made of headers, and is weatherboarded with a plain tile roof. The barn consists of three framed bays, including a central wagon bay with square-headed cart entries on opposite sides. The framing includes long rectangular panels extending from the sill to the wall-plate, with long straight braces in the lower corners. The roof structure comprises collar-and-tie-beam trusses, with queen struts positioned below the collar and king posts above. Inside, the roof features a double row of trenched purlins and two intermediate collar-and-tie-beam trusses with raking struts. It is noted that the weatherboarding on the south gable end has been partially removed.
