Description

A 17th-century farmhouse, significantly altered in the mid-19th century and mid-20th century. The farmhouse is timber-framed with painted brick infill, areas of brick replacement walling, and a sandstone rubble base. It has a plain tiled roof with external brick and sandstone chimneys at the gable ends. The left gable end is sandstone with a rebuilt brick stack, while the right end has a brick chimney with tiled offsets. The original house has two framed bays and two storeys. The front of the house features a facade with a mixture of 19th-century and 20th-century casement windows, including a three-light window and two two-light windows on the ground floor, along with two two-light, one three-light, and one 19th-century casement window on the first floor. A 20th-century gabled glazed porch is positioned to the left of the centre, and a 20th-century multi-paned door is also present. A small timber-framed outshut, incorporating a two-light casement window, is attached to the left-hand external chimney. Inside, there is an intermediate collar-and-tie-beam truss and a row of trenched purlins visible. A brick outshut with a catslide roof is located at the rear, and two single-storey brick wings extend from the rear of the left side of the building.
