Description
Philomel is a cottage dating from the late 17th century, with alterations and additions made in the mid-20th century. It features a timber-framed structure with painted brick infill, a rendered sandstone plinth, and a plain tiled roof with end brick stacks. The cottage has two framed bays and stands two storeys tall.
The framing consists of three square panels from the sill to the wall-plate, with collar-and-tie-beam trusses in the gable ends. The front elevation includes two windows on each floor, featuring two-light 20th-century casements. The entrance, located to the left of centre, has a gabled, timber-framed porch and a ledged and battened door.
The interior has not been inspected. At the rear, there is an outshut and a 20th-century single-storey wing to the rear right.
