Description
Sytchampton Farmhouse is a farmhouse dating from the 15th century, with alterations and additions made in the mid-19th and mid-20th centuries. The building is timber-framed with painted brick and rendered infill, brick replacement walling, and a sandstone rubble base. It has a plain tiled roof, two brick ridge stacks, and an external brick stack at the right gable end. Originally a cruck hall house, it likely has four framed bays and is a single storey with an attic featuring dormers. The framing consists of three square panels from the sill to the wall-plate, and a full cruck truss is exposed in the right gable end, while the left gable end has been rebuilt in brick. The front elevation includes a mid-20th century flat-roofed single storey extension that runs the full length of the ground floor, along with two gabled dormers that have 2-light casements. The entrance is located in the right gable end, featuring a mid-20th century lean-to glazed porch and door. Although the interior has not been inspected, it is reported that three pairs of crucks remain intact.
