Description
Cherry Garth is a cottage that dates from the early 17th century, with alterations and additions made in the mid-19th century and mid-20th century. It features a timber frame with painted brick infill and brick replacement walling, topped with plain tiled roofs. There are external brick stacks at the left gable end and a large external brick stack at the rear. The cottage has three framed bays and is a single storey with an attic that includes dormers. The framing consists of three square panels from the sill to the wall-plate, with long straight braces in the lower corners, and a collar-and-tie-beam truss with queen struts in the left gable end; the right gable end has been rebuilt in brick.
On the front elevation, there are two 3-light casements and one 2-light casement, along with two gabled dormers featuring 2-light casements. A lean-to glazed timber-framed porch runs across the right end bay, enclosing the 2-light casement, and to the left of it, there is a 20th-century plank and battened door. The gable ends also have attic lights. The interior has not been inspected. At the rear, there are 20th-century flat-roofed and gabled wings. An insurance mark from Norwich Union is attached to the right gable end.
