Description

Eden Farmhouse is a late 17th-century farmhouse, with alterations and additions made in the mid-19th century. The farmhouse is constructed of painted brick with a plain tiled roof and a large external brick chimney to the rear right, featuring modillion detail at its base. It has two storeys, an attic, and a cellar. A moulded string course with modillion detail runs between the storeys. The original three-bay facade is punctuated by 16-pane sash windows, with the first-floor window in the right bay featuring cross casements. A two-storey gabled porch projects from the central bay. The porch has a round-arched entrance, topped with a hoodmould featuring returns and a large dropped keyblock. Above the entrance is a moulded pediment containing a defaced ornament, above a blind window with a gauged flat head, flanked by moulded diapers. A round-headed light is set into the left side elevation, and an oval window with a moulded architrave is positioned on the right side. Inside the porch is a late 17th-century studded door, set behind a 20th-century glazed door, and featuring a moulded architrave and transom light with three vertical glazing bars. Two blind ground and first-floor windows are visible on the right side elevation; the first-floor windows have moulded cornices and modillion detail. 19th-century additions extend from the rear, characterised by a dentilled eaves cornice.
