Description

This is a late 17th and 18th-century farmhouse located on Pavement Lane in Mobberley. The building is constructed of red brick in a random bond pattern, with a slate roof. The north-west, or entrance, front is symmetrical with five bays. A central doorway is flanked by a moulded frame and a 19th-century gabled porch. Two ground-floor windows on the left have splayed heads and sash windows with 3 x 4 panes each. Two ground-floor windows on the right are 19th-century replacements, also with 3 x 4 panes, larger window sizes, and central keystones and rubbed brick splayed heads. The first-floor windows are similar to the left-hand ground-floor windows, with 3 x 4 panes and header lintels. A ridge chimney is situated slightly to the right of the centre, and a 19th-century gabled wing extends from the rear, along with an outshut. The left-hand gable end has a 2-light chamfered mullion window. A band of three bricks defines the height of the north-west and north-east sides. The interior features late 17th-century beams and a bressumer ingle-nook in the parlour. A close string staircase is present, with a moulded handrail and flat balusters with moulded sides. Original plank doors are retained, along with their hinges.
