Description
This barn, located about 20 feet northeast of Dukenfield Hall, dates from the late 17th century. It is constructed of red brick in a Flemish bond pattern and features a slate roof. The barn has an L-shaped layout. The courtyard front includes barn doors positioned to the right of center, framed by a basket arch and flanked by buttresses, with a roof that projects over the entrance. To the left on the ground floor, there were originally windows and a door, but these have been bricked up, and 20th-century metal-framed windows have been added in new locations. The first floor has two pitch-holes. To the left is a gabled wing that features a carriage door on the southwest side, also with a basket arch, and an oval pitch-hole above it. The gable has stone dressings, as does the southwest part of the barn, which also includes a 20th-century external staircase.
