Description

Farmhouse, built in 1906 by Sir Percy Worthington. The exterior is whitewashed brick in a stretcher bond pattern, with a tile roof. It is two storeys high with an attic. The front of the house is symmetrical, with three bays. A central front door has a porch supported by an iron bracket. Small pieces of stonework flank the doorway, with small two-light casement windows above. A segmental relieving arch of bricks and tiles, with a hood mould of projecting tiles, sits above the door. Four-light casement windows are on either side, with stone sills, splayed heads, and tile hood moulds. A string course of projecting stretchers is supported by alternately projecting brick headers. A central arch-headed date stone above the string course is inscribed "POL ANNO DNI 1906." The ground floor has three three-light casement windows, similar to those on the first floor but with flat lintels of brick headers. There are three gables with rectangular slates as breathers. The roof has a double slope and wrought iron gutter supports. The north front features an external, battered chimney breast with four flues and an angled bay ingle-nook. A circular window illuminates the attic.
