Description

The parish stocks, dating to the 18th century, are situated in front of the east wall of St. Wilfrid’s churchyard. Constructed of stone, timber, and wrought iron, the stocks comprise two rectangular whipping posts, each featuring arched heads and a channelled inner face. A wooden board containing four footholes is attached to the posts by iron C-shaped pieces. An upper iron tie-bar connects the two posts.
