Description
Beech Cottage is a house that dates from the late 17th century, with additions from the early 18th century, 19th century, and 20th century. It features a timber frame with whitewashed brick infill and whitewashed brick. The roof is thatched and cement tiled. The building has two storeys and presents a road frontage divided into three sections of different ages.
The right-hand section is single storey and shows some evidence of a stone plinth, with vestigial and uneven small framing and a single 1-light 19th-century casement window. The middle section, dating from the early 18th century, has a two-storey brick wall on the ground floor and small framing on the first floor. It includes a 2-light 20th-century casement window on the left, which has replaced the original doorway, and a 3-light casement window on the right, along with another 3-light casement window on the first floor to the right. The left section is entirely of brick, featuring a 3-light cambered window on the ground floor and a 3-light flat-lintelled window on the first floor. There is also a 20th-century wing at the rear.
