Description
Park Farmhouse is a late 17th-century farmhouse with alterations from the early 19th century. It originally comprised three rooms arranged around a central lobby, but with additional living space at the back of the house. The farmhouse is constructed of red brick in English bond, with parapet gables and a moulded brick cornice along the eaves. The roof is covered in plain tiles, and it features an internal brick chimney with a sawtooth pattern, which was recapped in the 19th century. Most of the windows are 19th-century, 3-light casements with segmental arches. The ground-floor windows have transoms with square lights above. At each gable end, altered original openings have hood moulds and splayed reveals, and near the top of the gable is a splayed circular window. A 19th-century porch with a gabled, tiled roof, and a 6-panelled door, is set at the front entrance. Inside, the structure of the first floor is visible, with joists laid edge-on. The chambers above the hall and parlour have ceilings at high collar level, and the principal rafters of the open truss are without tie-beams. A projecting two-storey block on the right-hand side, although its placement appears somewhat unusual, is likely original or a very early addition. A small two-storey wing at the rear was added in two phases, during the 18th and early 19th centuries.
