Description
The railings and gate piers enclosing the courtyard in front of Woolverstone Hall were likely built in the 1860s for the Berners family. They are made of cast and wrought iron and ashlar stone. The railings are arranged in quadrants that project forward towards the gate piers. The structure features a plinth and square corniced piers. The railings have bars with decorative scrollwork that create arches between the standards, topped with spear and foliate heads. There are dog bars with foliate finials, and the abutments are twisted and scrolled, adorned with gilded eagle heads. Square lamps are positioned on the gate piers. The gates were in storage at the time of the last survey. This structure is included for its group value.
