Description

Duke's Oak Farmhouse is a farmhouse from the late 17th century that was altered and extended in the mid-19th century. It is constructed of painted brick and features a dark tiled roof. The original 17th-century section, located on the right, has two storeys plus attics, with two windows on both the first and second storeys, and two attic windows in the right gable. There is a corbelled brick band at the first floor level and a six-panel door set within a mid-19th-century gabled brick porch that has a pointed archway. The original six-pane casements have been replaced and are set under slightly cambered gauged brick arches. The right gable end includes a blocked opening with a basket arch, small-pane casements, and an added canted porch. The gables are coped and feature corbelled chimneys with two separated chamfered flues.

The 19th-century wing on the left side has two six-pane, three-light windows on each storey and two small blank gables on the front with blocked attic loopholes. It also has an axial chimney with two separated chamfered flues. Inside, the parlour contains two repaired stop-chamfered oak beams, while the bedroom has two similar unaltered beams. The attic features a broad oak board floor, with oak purlins and rafters, although the stair has been replaced.
