Description
Brindley Green Farmhouse is a farmhouse, probably built in the late 18th century. It features Flemish bond brown brickwork and a grey slate roof. The building has three storeys and three windows, arranged symmetrically. The front has an open-pediment gable that nearly spans the full width of the house, with short, slightly recessed wings. In the centre, there is a full-height round-arched recess that contains a six-panel door with a radial bar fanlight, all set in a recessed moulded wood surround. To the landing, there is a six-pane cross-casement window, and a four-pane replaced casement window on the third storey. Each side has a nine-pane three-light cross-casement window on the first and second storeys, and a six-pane three-light casement window on the third storey. The window openings feature flat gauged brick arches, and there is a wooden cornice with corbel blocks. Marks on the left gable end suggest that a former two-storey wing has been removed. There is a 20th-century extension at the rear. Inside, there is a late Georgian staircase with one flight per storey; the lower flight is made of oak and the upper flight of softwood. The staircase has an open string with shaped brackets, stick balusters, and a curtail.
