Description

The Church of St John was built in 1861 and designed by the architect Sir George Gilbert Scott. It is constructed in an early Gothic style using yellow stone with red sandstone dressings. The church features a nave, north and south transepts, a chancel, and a central tower topped with a spire. The windows are adorned with plate tracery. Inside, the church has an ashlar-faced interior with richly carved capitals.
