Description

This is a house dating to around 1840, located in Sandbach Heath. It is constructed of red brick in various bond patterns, with a blue tile roof. The house is symmetrical, originally with three bays, and now has a one-bay deep wing to the rear, creating an "L" shaped plan. A four-panel, half-glazed door is accessed via two Yorkstone steps and is sheltered by a gabled porch supported by four unfluted Roman Doric columns. Flanking the porch are recessed sash windows with wedge lintels and stone sills, containing 20 panes of glass. Matching sashes are also positioned at the first floor level, with one centrally above the porch. The rear elevation features a six-light staircase window with a semicircular radial bar head. Other rear windows are sash windows, and the rear door is a six-panel, bead and flush design. A brick dentil eaves course is present at the rear. Gable-end stacks are visible. Inside, a geometrical staircase has curtail steps with cut and bracketed strings, stick balusters, and a continuous handrail. Four-panel doors are fitted with panelled reveals. The main ground floor rooms have modest plaster ceiling cornices. The right-hand gable has four sashes and a blocked Gothic headed opening in the gable. The left-hand gable has a similar blocked gable opening, but no windows below it.
