Description

Seamark Farmhouse is a farmhouse that dates from the later 17th century and was altered and extended in the late 18th or early 19th century. It is constructed of white-painted brick, with part of the building on a stone plinth, and has a slate roof featuring stone gable copings. The farmhouse has an L-shaped layout, consisting of a two-bay baffle-entry plan with an additional bay added to the right (east) end, and a single-bay wing added in front of the second bay.

The building is two storeys tall, likely raised, and the south side features a small window with a label that aligns roughly with the gable chimney, which was probably originally a door. To the right, there is a three-light flush-mullion window with a label, and at the first floor, a wide segmental-headed three-light casement. The wing has a door near the junction and a similar but taller segmental-headed window on each floor. The north side has three windows on each floor, with the upper ones being four-pane sashes and the others altered, all featuring stone heads.

Inside, the housepart in the first bay includes an inglenook with a heck and an ovolo-moulded bressummer with cyma stops. There are two lateral beams, one of which has a stopped chamfer. At the first floor, there is a smoke hood now enclosed by a cupboard, partition walls made of wattle and daub, and large purlins, which were probably raised.
