Description
Astridge Farmhouse is a farmhouse dating from the 15th century, which was altered and extended in the later 17th century. The building is cased in red brick from the late 18th century, with a roughcast right gable end and a stair turret on the rear left. The left gable end features exposed timber framing. The farmhouse has two storeys and attics, with four 18th-century wood casement windows, including segmental-headed windows on the ground floor. There is a floor band and a 20th-century gabled porch, along with one 18th-century hipped dormer.
Inside, the layout consists of three bays, with the two bays on the right having formerly served as an open hall. A timber frame chimney stack was inserted in the 16th century, and a floor was added in the later 17th century. A two-and-a-half storey wing was added on the left, which includes a stair tower and a lateral chimney stack with three square shafts. The stairs remain intact.
