Description
Upper Fudges is a 17th-century cottage that has been altered over time. It features a timber-framed structure with rendered infill and a sandstone plinth, topped by a 20th-century tiled roof. The cottage consists of two framed bays, with a through-passage that has been blocked by an inserted staircase. There is a later catslide outshut at the rear and an external stack that is enclosed by a later timber-framed extension on the northeast gable. The building is single storey with an attic, and it has 20th-century windows; specifically, there is a three-light window to the left and an eyebrow dormer with a two-light casement, along with a seven-light window to the right of the doorway, which has a 20th-century door. The framing includes three panels from the sill to the wall-plate, diagonal bracing from the sill to the main post, V-struts in the gable, and timber weathering over the lintels and at the sills in the gable.
