Description
Inglenook Cottage is a 17th-century cottage that has undergone some alterations and additions in the 20th century. It is constructed with a timber frame and features rendered brick infill, along with some areas of brick replacement walling and refacing. The cottage has a tiled roof and a large external brick chimney with tiled offsets on the front elevation.
The building consists of two framed bays and has doorways located in the gable ends. It is a single storey with an attic that includes dormers at the rear. The front elevation showcases large square panels, with two extending from the sill to the wall-plate. The lower end panels feature long straight braces, and the east gable end reveals an exposed queen strut truss. The front elevation also has one ground floor casement window, two skylights, and a prominent external brick stack.
Inside, the roof is of the single trenched purlin type. A 20th-century two-storey addition at the west gable end has resulted in the partial removal of the west wall-frame.
