Description
Nos 1 and 2 Hampton Cottages are a former house that has been divided, dating from the 17th century and altered over time. The cottages are constructed with a timber frame, featuring parts that are brick and lath-and-plaster infill, and have a rendered sandstone base. They have a slate roof with a tiled outshut at the rear. The building has a straight range of three framed bays and an outshut, with one stack at the eastern end and a second stack to the right of the center. The entrance to No 2 is located at the east gable, while the entrance to No 1 is to the left of center. The cottages are single storey with an attic, featuring 20th-century casements, including a two-light window in a gabled dormer above the entrance. To the left, there is a three-light window, and to the right, there is one three-light and one two-light window.
The framing consists of irregular two and three panels from the sill to the wall-plate, with angle bracing in the top panel and two queen struts supporting the collar in the gable.
