Description
Nos 3 and 4 Nethercote Hill are a pair of cottages from the 17th century, originally built with a timber frame that has largely been recased in rubble stone, with a 20th-century addition at the east end. The original section features a stone slate roof that is half-hipped to the west, with a ridge stack and a stack at the northwest corner. The cottages are 1½ storeys high.
On the south side, there are two renewed sloping dormers on the right, along with ground floor casements and a sash window. The west end includes a door framed in an 18th-century cyma-moulded surround with a hood supported by brackets, and a first-floor two-light cyma-moulded recessed mullion window with a dripstone. The north side features one cyma-moulded flush mullion two-light window on the right and, on the left, exposed heavy square framing with a small 1-3-1 light canted timber-mullion oriel window.
No 4 has a large 20th-century addition. The interior of No 3 has not been inspected, but No 4 contains one bay of the timber-framed range, featuring a heavy tie-beam and a collar truss on the end wall, as well as a collar truss on the party wall.
